   I also joined the experiment, but although I added a lot of people to my favorites, I did not get that many in return. Because the system is open to abuse I decided to write up a quick website that allows controlled sharing of favorites, check it out at http://www.favorite.me.uk/ anyone who blogs about it I will add a link to.

   That's a good writeup on the Technorati experiment. As you say I imagine at least a few of the A list bloggers are none too happy about being moved down or off the list.
   But the opportunity to find new worthwhile blogs is just as real as the game so I have no regrets at all about participating.

   Aloha and thanks for adding me. I've made you one of my favorites in return.
   
   I've been on the lists at DoshDosh and Garry Conn for about two weeks. What I found was that a lot of the people near the top of the list were not adding new folks that appeared a the bottom. I emailed each person above me and asked them to add me in. Most did. It's a lot of work, but has made a tremendous differnence in my own fave ranking.

    I've added you as a favorite and will add you to my feed/link love exchange as well. For those of you who said it was confusing to keep track of adding feeds-read my post Technoratiff which is a nice program that automates the process. The only problem I have is that it adds ALL blogs of a blogger- and the fact I'm not getting favored back.

    Certainly I like to get better ranking. But so far, the most rewarding experience is not just seeing the Technorati rank figures getting smaller. What I enjoyed most is having more friends globally. I visited a few bloggers' site regularly, if not daily, just to check out their very interesting, thought provoking posts. I gained more knowledge, shared a few laughs and made friends at the other end of the globe.

    Thanks, I have favourited you in return. Personally I thought it was just a straight favourites exchange, I notice you now need 181 favourites to make it into the Technorati top 100 whereas I think yesterday it was only 168. It just raises the bar a little higher, I'm up to 71 people who've favourited me so far, looks like I've quite a way to go to make it into the top 100. I think it would be better to write some quality posts/entries people will find useful though than post again about this.

    Hi - before we talk about favoriting - you're blog is a gem. Without this Technorati favorites experiment, I wouldn't be finding such great blogs to check out and yes, favorite.

    I don't know if this was a good experiment HH, as I think your page rank goes down by these links. I think the best ranking is done by Google and not Techorati. Furthermore, your comments look like Ibibo blogs.
    
    But then again, in Techorati your Rank goes up.
    
    Do let us know your final thoughts on this experiment.

    Rajiv, incidentally, I lost one Google PR during the last few days. Was it coincidental because I read Google updated its Page Ranks? Or was it because of these huge outgoing links? I am not sure. But it's been done already. You are right, Google is the ultimate search engine on the web and half of my visitors come from Google. That said, Technorati is also the leader specifically to blogs.
    
    In this experiment, I have also gone through several websites and exchanged notes with many. I found lots of interesting sites which I would never have found in a general search. It was worth it. And of course the Technorati Top 100 list :-) Dunno how long this blog will stay there but at least it gave me a smile.
